9/11 - Ten Years Later

Ten years ago Islamic terrorists killed almost 3,000 people in a single day in the United States. The psychological impact has been so strong that “9/11” is now imprinted upon our minds. Two words, “nine eleven,” and everyone knows what it means.

The horror of the slaughter has justified and permitted two wars and significant improvements in governments’ ability to monitor and detain us.

We feel less safe than we did ten years ago.

Because we have not addressed the class division which causes poverty and religion today: capitalism. Capitalism demands poverty and nurtures religion. That combination fosters the perspective and commitment which makes government, corporate, and other terror possible.

We can change the world.

But we don't. We just fear what is and what we haven't the determination to create.
